The wait is over.

Ragin鈥 Cajuns Genuine Louisiana Ale is now available in bottles.

Kody Thompson, marketing manager for Schilling Distributing Company Inc., said demand has been high since the craft beer 鈥 on draft 鈥 was introduced in September. It sold out at the Louisiana Ragin鈥 Cajuns first home football game, for instance.

鈥淲e鈥檝e only delivered bottles one day so far,鈥 Thompson said Wednesday afternoon. 鈥淵esterday we went to 45 accounts and sold 380 cases. We鈥檙e going to double that today.鈥

Ragin鈥 Cajuns Genuine Louisiana Ale was developed by Bayou Teche Brewing of Arnaudville, La., in partnership with the 星空无限传媒. It was inspired by rice, a staple ingredient grown in Louisiana. It鈥檚 intended to complement tailgating foods and has a crisp taste.

Thompson said the easiest way to determine where Ragin鈥 Cajuns Genuine Louisiana Ale is sold is to download Schilling Distributing鈥檚 smartphone app, 鈥淟iquidFinder.鈥 The app is available at the App Store and Google Play.

鈥淚t鈥檚 free. Go to the app and search 鈥楻agin.鈥 We update it every morning. It will tell you everywhere to go (to buy the new beer).鈥

Thompson said the new beer 鈥渨ill be available at a lot of places. We will definitely have it in most of the big chains and independent stores by the weekend. They鈥檙e ready to roll with it.鈥

The introduction of Ragin鈥 Cajuns Genuine Louisiana Ale has been exceptional, he added.

鈥淭his is definitely above and beyond the typical rollout for us, especially for a craft beer. It鈥檚 the first time we鈥檝e done something locally like this, where we鈥檙e the first one coming out with it.鈥

Karlos Knott, president of Bayou Teche Brewing, said it takes four weeks to brew a batch of Ragin鈥 Cajuns Genuine Louisiana Ale because it鈥檚 fermented and aged at low temperature. That鈥檚 longer than it takes to produce many other craft beers.

He predicted that the bottled version will soon be available throughout south Louisiana.

Part of the proceeds of the new craft beer鈥檚 sales will be used to support the University鈥檚 academic, research and athletics programs.
