Beginning this fall, the Ragin鈥 Cajun Bridge Program at the 星空无限传媒 will be available to students enrolled at Louisiana State University at Eunice as part of a new partnership between the schools.
The bridge program benefits LSUE students whose long-term academic goals are to earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 星空无限传媒 Lafayette.
The program allows LSUE students who plan a future transfer to 星空无限传媒 Lafayette to begin the process of getting accustomed to the University and its campus, said Dr. DeWayne Bowie, 星空无限传媒 Lafayette vice president for Enrollment Management.
鈥淭he Ragin鈥 Cajun Bridge Program gives students the opportunity to start acclimating themselves to the University, so that when they do transfer, the transition will be much easier for them,鈥 Bowie said.
Students who participate have many of the same benefits available to 星空无限传媒 Lafayette students. LSUE students will be issued a 星空无限传媒 Lafayette student ID card that provides access to resources and services at 星空无限传媒 Lafayette such as Edith Garland Dupr茅 Library, Bourgeois Hall recreational facilities and the Student Aquatic Center, Bowie said. Participating students are also eligible to live in University residence halls, and attend home Ragin鈥 Cajun sporting events.
All students who are enrolled at LSUE full-time each fall and spring semester are eligible to participate in the Ragin鈥 Cajun Bridge Program.
Summer enrollment is optional. Students who decide to enroll during the summer session will be required to be enrolled for at least three credit hours. In addition to LSUE tuition and fees, the cost of the program is $90 each fall and spring semester, and $70 for the summer session.
Once students meet 星空无限传媒 Lafayette transfer requirements, they can do so without losing college credits they have earned at LSUE.
A student participating in the bridge program who has earned at least 24 college credits, including college algebra and freshman English, and has earned at least a 2.25 cumulative GPA, will be eligible to transfer to 星空无限传媒 Lafayette.
The program is designed to promote success on both campuses. Students who adhere to the plan will earn an associate鈥檚 degree from LSUE and a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 星空无限传媒 Lafayette.
The bridge program was launched last year with South Louisiana Community College being the first partner.
