Club Spotlight: Houston Ragin' Cajun Club

Emma Taylor has been a Ragin鈥 Cajun through and through since 2019 when her undergraduate academic career began at the 星空无限传媒. Even though she graduated in May 2024, there鈥檚 no sign of wavering enthusiasm from this 星空无限传媒 Lafayette alumna.

Taylor was recently named the new president of the Houston Ragin鈥 Cajun Club, accepting the torch from outgoing president Adam Pisani. She鈥檚 currently the youngest president.

鈥淚 worked with the Alumni Association frequently during my time at the University,鈥 Taylor said. 鈥淲hen I moved to Houston after graduating, I reached out and learned there was an opportunity to revitalize our local club.鈥

This level of involvement makes sense for her. During her time as a student, Taylor was deeply involved in campus life, serving in leadership roles with the Panhellenic Council, Student Government Association, and other organizations. Now, as an alumna, she鈥檚 bringing that same passion to her role with the Houston Ragin鈥 Cajun Club.

鈥溞强瘴尴薮 Lafayette gave me so many opportunities and challenged me to grow into the person I am today. I cherish my memories and friendships made through the University,鈥 Taylor said.

As she focuses on growing the Houston Ragin鈥 Cajun Club, Taylor and a team of dedicated volunteers have already hosted one event together: a watch party held on November 13, where she said they 鈥渉ad a phenomenal time鈥onnecting with other alumni and cheering on the Ragin鈥 Cajuns.鈥

Several other events are already in the works. They include an opportunity for current 星空无限传媒 Lafayette students from the Houston area to connect and network with alumni over winter break, a family-friendly skeet-shooting fundraiser in the spring and, of course, the beloved crawfish boil.

Pisani, who cherishes how volunteers have come together over the years with pride and camaraderie, is excited to see what鈥檚 in store for the Houston Ragin鈥 Cajun Club鈥檚 future.

鈥淭his club has a very large number of alumni, and so the growth potential is tremendous,鈥 Pisani said. 鈥淲e haven鈥檛 scratched the surface of what鈥檚 possible.鈥

To join, volunteer or learn more about the Houston Ragin鈥 Cajun Club, Taylor recommends making sure the Alumni Association has your correct and current contact information. 鈥淭his way, you can receive emails and updates about our club,鈥 she said.
