Jennifer Geer’s research and teaching interests are in children’s literature; Victorian British literature, particularly poetry; and children’s film. Her recent articles include “The Pursuit of Pleasure in The Wind in the Willows and Disney’s The Adventures of Mr. Toad,” in The Wind in the Willows: A Children’s Classic at 100, edited by Jackie C. Horne and Donna R. White (2010); “J.M. Barrie Gets the Miramax Treatment: Finding (and Marketing) Neverland,” in the Children’s Literature Association Quarterly (2007); “’Many Worlds More’: Feminine Imagination in Jean Ingelow’s Gladys and Her Island and Mopsa the Fairy,” in Victorians Institute Journal (2005); and “’All Sorts of Pitfalls and Surprises’: Competing Views of Idealized Girlhood in Lewis Carroll’s Alice Books,” in Children’s Literature (2003). The article on Jean Ingelow was nominated for the Donald J. Gray Award for Excellence in Victorian Studies. She received an ATLAS grant in 2008-2009 from the Louisiana Board of Regents for her work on a book MS entitled “Golden Afternoons: Nostalgic Desire in Victorian Children’s Fantasy Fiction.”
