KRVS Radio Acadie

Center, Lab or Institute

We are a music- and culture-driven, listener-supported media organization based on the 星空无限传媒 Lafayette campus in Burke-Hawthorne Hall. We serve audiences in and beyond Southwest Louisiana with content that reflects and amplifies the region鈥檚 culture, heritage, values and languages including French, Creole and Spanish.

The station broadcasts more than 70 hours a week of locally produced programs 鈥 along with National Public Radio news 鈥 on its 100,000-watt broadcast frequency 88.7 FM, at KRVS.org and as HD1 on its app. Our live broadcasts from Lafayette鈥檚 major annual festivals and frequent live performances from the Cypress Lake Studio help to define Radio Acadie鈥檚 distinctive sound.

KRVS began as a student station in 1963 at the institution then known as Southwestern Louisiana University (its call letters stand for the Kampus Radio Voice of Southwestern). Today, growing numbers of students participate in every aspect of the station鈥檚 HD2 digital channel. An additional channel, HD3, offers public media news and information programs 24 hours a day.

To hear the HD audio streams, download the free KRVS smartphone app from Google Play or the App Store. Once opened, the three channels will appear at the top of the screen. On KRVS.org, you can listen to any of the channels by clicking 鈥淎ll Streams.鈥 Both the phone and the website allow you to choose the channel you want to hear.

We鈥檙e proud to connect the world with Acadiana and Acadiana with the world.
